Do you earn/lose the same number of rankings points that you would have earned/lost if you had been defeated (in the match)?

  1. r u talking about the usta ? if so , i think it either is the same amount or close to it . but they way their scoring these days its so confusing to tell

  2. Yes. If Federer had retired from the Wimbledon last night the would have won the same amount as points as he did because he was defeated.

At the end of the day, on the computers, if you retire from a match it counts as though you have lost it. Even in the head to head statistics.

  3. Yes. Let's say for example a defending champion (winner last year) at wimbledon hurt his/her leg and withdraws from the match this year. They lose the points that they earned there last year (they would have earned say 1000 points). So if the present tally stands at 5000, it will become 4000.
