What happens when you when you go to court?

my friend got 2 speeding tickets in the last 3-4 months... one she was going at 97 and she was by herself the other one she was going 80 but she said the cop wrote down 90 and she is scared because she had her one year old little girl with her when she was going at 80. anyways my question is what happens when you go to court for a ticket? she said hat she tried to pay for it but they told her to wait for what the judge says. i don't even have a license yet so i am no help to her as to what she can expect. anyone know?

  1. It depends on what State you are in.  If she even suspects a formal charge may be brought against her in court for either reckless driving or child endangerment, she should request an attorney be appointed to represent her.

    Otherwise, it will be a very large fine and her drivers license may be suspended or revoked.


  2. she can plead guilty and pay the ticket for speeding..because speeding at that speed with a smal child in the car is not very wise

  3. Your friend is probably not going to court yet. Your friend is only at the stage where they decide what options are open to her. The next letter should ask what do you want to do? a) go to court, or b) appeal by letters to the judge. Always choose the first option. Most cases between my friends and I, the cop does not show up and the case is droped. Only time they consistently showed up were on our 100+ mph speeding tickets.

    Besides that, worst case on these two speeding tickets and endangerment of a child, pay a huge fee and take driving school. You just waste a lot of time waiting, writing, and talking to people who think they're important.

  4. Pay a fine and higher insurance.
