  1. just take a multivitamin. you probably aren't getting enough iron or b12. also, make sure you're eating enough. you may be underweight or undernourished. try and add a little healthy fat to your diet (peanut butter, olive oil, almonds) & make sure you're eating at least 3 meals a day. eat a balanced diet which includes whole grains, vegetables, and lean protein like tofu, beans, low fat dairy (if you eat dairy), and lentils.

  2. How much of your hair is coming out?  If it's coming out in handfuls, you need to see your doctor to make sure there isn't an underlying cause.  However, we all lose about 100 hairs a day normally through brushing, etc.  Also, hormonal changes can trigger some hair loss.  Read the links I've posted and then you'll see if you need to go to your doctor, especially if you say you haven't been feeling well.

    Wishing you well.  :-)

  3. Maybe you should start eating a balanced diet and start eating enough food.

  5. Are you balding? If not then don't worry about it. My biology teacher mentioned that it happens all the time in life.

I am a vegetarian for 7 years and it has always happened to me way before I became a vegetarian and my protein is fine.

  6. People are different. Not everyone does well with a veggie diet, or a meat one for that matter. I learned the hard way that even with supplements, vegetarian wasn't for me. I don't digest beans, soy, dairy or nuts very well which pretty much left me with almost no good protein sources. I had similar problems with hair, nails and a lot of other things I didn't have wrong before. Going vegan was truthfully about the worst thing I ever did for my health. I got more colds than ever and my stomach was upset all the time because all those veggies and soy gave me horrid, foul gas.

I look and feel better with some meat in my diet. My hair, nails and skin look better than they ever did when I tried to go veggie. Often times too, protein powders and vitamins get expensive. Now I just enjoy good quality meats in fairly small portions and I also enjoy veggie and vegan food if I am in the mood for it. In small amounts I don't get the gas or stomach problems, I just can't live on beans, fruits and veggies alone. It didn't work for me no matter how I tried to 'balance' my diet and no matter what kind of supplements I took. You just have to find the right balance for you. Especially if you have food sensitivities like I do, being vegan or veggie just limits your food choices even more. If you are not 'feeling your best' guess what? THIS PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU! My advice is to put your health first, whatever your decision!

  7. I don't think it is necessarily your vegetarian diet doing this.  I get the sneaking suspicion that you aren't eating healthy, two different things.  Make sure you are eating enough protein, calcium and iron, through food or supplementation.  If you are anemic, your hair will fall out.  If you are starving yourself with what you think is a healthy "vegetarian" diet, this will also make your hair fall out.  Hopefully your period hasn't stopped.  Stress can also make your hair fall out.

Please go and see your doctor and have a complete physical and blood work done.  You are ill and need to feel better... don't mess with your health.

  8. Your hair falling out and a vegetarian diet are two different things. I think you are implying a cause and effect relationship when there isn't enough basis. Eat spirulina, an algae high in protein, hemp seeds, nuts, seeds, flaxseeds, tofu and tempeh. These are all good sources of protein. Whether you are a vegetarian or not, you should get your vitamins, amino acids and minerals. Also add a good multivitamin to your diet if you cannot obtain the above mentioned sources of protein.

  9. take some protein supplements or try tofu

  10. Eat protein!  Beans, Eggs, Nuts, etc.
