What happens when your suppose to get a delivery but...?

What happens when your get a package or delivery package sent to our house like somthing that wont just fit on the mailbox sent to your house and you are not home? Do they jsut leave it infrount of your house or do you have to get it from the postal office? or do they just forget about it? What happens? Thanks.

Depends on where you are who is posting it/ the courier service.

If your in the UK and it is royal mail they leave a note saying where to go if the item is sent special delivery you have to go to the local sorting office with ID as its a secure signed for service. Recorded delivery is also signed for and that goes to the sorting center as would any other post that can not be left with next door or some neighborough and you have no place to leave it.

Sometimes they just leave it on your porch or something they might put a slip in your mailbox telling you to come by the post office to pick it up at your convience.
