Question:

What happens with Bangsamoro now?

MOA-AD (now under a TRO) gives away southern half of Palawan as Bangsamoro land. I'm just wondering who will get the Spratleys. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

  1. Allan is right.  There should have been a plebiscite conducted, to take the consensus of the people in Mindanao, to favor all in Mindanao and not just pen some agreement that only involves the government and the Muslims in some sort of appeasement for the Muslims.  I think the government is biased in favor of the Muslims, maybe out of fear or as what Allan has suggested...in preparation for declaring Martial Law.  I hope this is not the kind of scenario the government or even the President is looking forward to.

However, let us be assured that the MOA only serves its purpose, or for the reason that it was created for and not with any hidden agenda that could give way for a separate nation but only to give the Muslims right to exercise authority and jurisdiction over the Bangsamoro ancestral domain.

  2. every mindanaon wants  and dreams of peace.

but there was no public consultation with majority of the people in mindanao as to the provisions of the moa.  the moa is unconstitutional as it violates the equal protection clause of our constitution.  it practically creates a state within a state.

instead of promoting peace, this moa will in effect create more conflict with christians and muslims in mindanao.

some theorists are saying that this moa is a ploy of the incumbent president to create trouble and confusion in anticipation of a declaration of martial law.

thereby extending her term beyond 2010.

    who knows?

    pharoah,

it is not  a question on sharia law but more on the issue of ancestral domain in the expanded armm.  ancestral domain covers areas that goes to prehispanic era and would invariably cover areas that were offered by the commonwealth government during the resettlement program in the 1930's.  the christians feel that they have toiled for these lands  given them thru government program with their sweat, tears and blood.  without consulting them and signing the moa under a cloak of secrecy,  the negotiators did a lot of disservice to the mindanaons.

  3. It won't take long you will be presenting your passport when you come and visit the land of promise, Mindanao.

  4. If they're going to expand the Autonomous Region of Muslim Philippines in the MOA.

They should also let other ethnic minorities have their own Autonomous regions in order to be fair...

We should also have autonomous regions for the Negritos, the Batad,  the Spanish and the Chinese.

    Or...

We shouldn't have any autonomous regions at all!

Since it'll just be a fuzz and it will only increase the bureaucratic load.

    -___________-

Also, dont fret much since the Bansangmoro territories are still be a part of the Philippines. They'll just be an autonomous region not a separate state.

Therefore any territory that belongs to them also belongs to the Republic of the Philippines being autonomous does not mean they are separate from the Republic they just have a lot more power to govern.

Russia has several autonomous regions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_...

And they are all part of Russia.

China too has several autonomous regions: Like Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and they're all part of China (Whether Taiwan accepts that is a another topic)

    ^_^

  5. It is still there.  I think the elections for the ARMM (autonomous region) is underway, or about to go into the works.   This was shown on TV Patrol Sabado.

Also, there seems to be a standoff on one town in North Cotobato where the military and the MILF might have to shoot each other.

The Republic has always respected the Ancestral Domain rights of the indigenous peoples of the South.  However,  administrative rights should remain with the State and not handed over to those who might act with an "evil eye and unbalanced hand".  And not especially when unduly influenced with a foreign state.

The Spratleys has always been contested by the Philippines against all and sundry.   Our own AFP doubts whether we can adequately defend the Kalayaan islands against invaders.

  6. what really are the contents of this MOA?

What if it state that they are still filipino subjects, pay taxes or serve military/police tour of duty for the Philippine government, but only contains laws that all muslims in the said areas are subjected to  islamic laws like execution for adultery which the Philippine laws does not allow, and the whipping of those doing s*x (fornication) outside of marriage, imprisonment of muslims who are drunk ( i heard Singapore has this law, but does not apply to Christians or other non muslims) and other related laws?

Some of the Islamic laws are already in effect like muslim males are allowed to take up to 4 wives, marry first cousins or at the age of puberty, and divorce is allowed where the Family Code of the Philippines do not.

I am a manilan muslim convert myself and would not like a secession but would  love to have islamic laws imposed on us muslims to discipline the wrongdoers.

Who would  ever love our homes, families and society to disintegrate morally that is in the brink of becoming a Sodom and Gomorra?
