Will he appear in any other races or go straight to stud? I love the way that horse races and I would love to see him race more than one more time. He is an icon.

  1. He is confirmed to go to the Travers, then the Breeder's Cup Classic, no questions asked, no changes unless something goes awry. I would like to see him race more, and as such I actually hope he loses so that we might find a better horses who will race longer.

No.1: Don't mean to be rude, but pay more attention! This has been known for several days.

I'll take 1-100 on that bet. Assuming no injuries occur. People actually mean what they say in real life, although you might think otherwise.

Thanks for the thumbs down. You're wrong.

People here are failing to realize that it's a sure thing if he comes out of the Belmont fresh. The horse is worthless if he doesn't race against older horses, because that's what the sportscasters will say, and that will remain the mark of Big Brown for eternity. Andrew Beyer had an article about this. The injury is also no longer an injury - two straight days of workouts have been recorded so far.

  2. icon........ is abit overboard considering he's only won 5 races!

anyway the whisper is he's been sold to stud for 55million dollars, so i cant see him racing after the Belmont, as the risks of keeping him racing will be to high, coz if he broke down and was destroyed thats a lot of money down the drain!

  3. breeders cup in the fall will be next big race!

  4. It isn't known for sure - it depends on how he comes out of the race.  If he's 100% (or has something minor that just requires a little time off) he'll continue to the Travers and Breeder's Cup (according to his trainer).  If there's anything the slightest bit wrong, he'll likely go straight to stud.  So cross your fingers that he comes out of the Belmont well and that his foot problems don't flare up!

  5. Well, I'm sure that he will continue to race...  and then go on to live out his life as a stud, producing some awesome future race horses at some farm in KY...

Wouldn't it be AWESOME if he does win the Belmont???? The last leg of the Triple Crown is June 7!! :-D

    Go BIG BROWN!!!!!!

  6. it would be nice to see him race "curlin"...but

money talks...and i think june 7th will be his last.....

  7. Hopefully he finishes the race and comes out ok.  I would think the Travers in August and then on to the Breeders cup.

    He is NOT Secretariat.

  8. Any more injuries and his ALPO.

  9. Supposedly Travers then Classic. I would bet that if he loses the Belmont he will defineatley be in the Classic to increase his value. If he wins the Triple Crown though I figure it's 50/50 on if he races again.

Three Chimney's payed 50mil for the stud rights but in the contract it stipulated that he would continue to race until the current owners decided to retire him.

  10. With the recurring hoof problems, he will be kept in training - with media speculation on a late-summer match-race with Curlin - but one more minor setback and he'll be retired. I believe the Belmont will be his last race.....this cat is too valuable at stud to take any chances.

  11. His owners will probably want to continue racing him, I hope they don't. His hooves aren't going to stand up to that pressure for that much longer.

  12. As of now, everything I have read and heard is that Big Brown will continue to train and race in both the Traverse and Breeder's classic.  I see him skipping the traverse, but I bet he would be in the Classic.  To face Curlin would cement the fact that he is a great horse.  In my opinion, not until then can we call Big Brown the great one.

  13. He, after the Belmont Stakes, is going to the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, then the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita.  Then after his three year old season is over, he will be at stud at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky.I would love to see him race against Curlin in the Breeders Cup Classic.

  14. with the injury he has if he wins the Belmont he is going out to stud for the rest of his days

to me Secretariat was the best

    Big Brown is real good

  15. His owners said Belmont would likely be his last race.I seriously doubt he will make it to the Breeders cup classic.
