  1. Actually bats are quite useful to humans as pest control and as the pollinators of many of the fruits and vegetables we eat.  No, they do not attack humans.  Also, vampire bats saliva is being used to produce anticoagulant drugs for stroke victims, and people with heart disease.  If you come across a bat...never handle it with bare hands as they could carry rabies..although it is a lot rarer in bats than most people think.  Less than 1% of all bats carry rabies..other animals such as foxes, racoons, skunks, etc are more likely to carry this disease.

  2. There is always a possibility that a person could be "attacked" by a bat but they are not a creature that goes looking for a fight with man.  It also depends on your idea of an "attack".  Say for example I am walking through a cave and I stir up a colony of bats that are resting.  When I stir them up they swarm out of the cave all around me and I am waving my arms about like a crazy person.  In the process I get scratched and possible bit.  Was I attacked?  No not really because I went into their home, startled them, acted like a loon and was injured in the process.  Yet there are some people out there that would still look at that as an attack.  Also, there are billions of bats living on the earth and one would be foolish to think that every single one of those bats is healthy and no one has ever been truly attacked.  Either way, bats are not something that really attack humans.

Also if you are wondering bats do carry rabies, however it has been blown way out of porpotion by the media and crazy people.  Less than .01% of the bats living on the earth carry rabies.  It is only of those silly yet true facts where you are more likley to be run over by a tractor driven by a blind farmer with no arms than be bitten by a bat that carries rabies.  Of course it can happen, it is just the odds are extremely, extremely low.

  3. no they do not harm humans quite frankly they eat bugs so we should love them and the important role they play in our delicate ecosystem.

  4. Bat do not harm humans at all

    they just fly around you

  5. bats do not normally attack humans, and eat incredible numbers of insects every night. However they are known to carry diseases such as rabies and histoplasmosis.

  6. Generally bats are harmless to humans, and are generally helpful, as many species feed on harmful insects.

If you handle one that you find, it could bite you.

There is a species, the vampire bat, that does feed upon blood.  However, this is primarily the blood of sleeping livestock.  But they do feed sometimes on sleeping humans.  If the bat was infected with rabies, then it could be transmitted.

  7. No bats do not attack people.  The harm comes when people mess with them.  Bats do carry rabies.
