What has New Zealand won Gold in?

Rugby isn't an Olympic Sport is it? Should Australia lend the Kiwis one of ours?

If you are only referring to the current 2008 Olympics, the Kiwis have won gold in the following events:

Athletics - Women's Shot Put - Valerie Vili

Rowing - Women's Double Sculls - Georgina and Caroline Evers-Swindell

Since the Beijing Olympics is not over yet, the numbers may eventually change. :-)

New Zealand has five medals so far and two of the five are Gold.

Rugby is not in the Olympics but it is being considered for the future.

I am a Kiwi and I would be horrified if Rugby ever becomes an olympic sport.  As far as I'm concerned the rugby culture is one of the worst aspects of NZ , it is lovely living in Australia and not having it rammed down your throat day in and day out.  Anyway, you know what would happen if there was rugby, the all blacks would spend 4 years being hyped up and then lose to France or Australia without making the final, which has happened in the last 3 world cups.  Then starts the next 4 years of the media playing the blame game and NZ lamenting the downfall of our supposed national heros.  No thanks.  The Olympics are a breath of fresh air for those of us who like a bit of variety in the NZ sports coverage.
