Question:

What has a higher insurance rate ...a i4 turbo or a v6 car?

I recently wrecked a car and was looking at getting a mazdaspeed3... I was wondering how much the insurance on one of these would cost compared to a 6 cylinder car like a v6 tiburon or something would be in comparison.(i had accident forgiveness since i didnt get a ticket or anything to raise insurance) I've heard mixed results on what insurance looks at for quoting you. Some people I have heard will quote you the same as a regular 4 cylinder because they dont look at horsepowerand that using horsepower for insurance was only a myth. But a lot of people said the horsepower does directly affect the rate for your insurance. I'm sure there are companies that do judge on horsepower, but i was wondering if there was a significant amount that would not look to see if it was turbo charged or not and also would it still be less than a v6 or would it be more generally. All useful input is greatly appreciated.

  1. Help yourself:) You can easily compare rates for i4 turbo and v6 in internet, for example here: http://carinsurance.deep-ice.com

  2. if you would like to take the 3 minutes to fill out a quote and get the cheapest insurance visit http://www.COMPAREusINSURANCE.com and enter your zip code and choose the insurance company of your choice and get a quick quote.

  3. I have a 1.8t Passat and my wife drives a 2.0 naturally aspirated Jetta and we pay the same on both cars. The insurance companies will consider a 2-door coupe more likely to be driven dangerously than a 4/5 door hatch. They don't really look at engine displacement or horsepower, but instead at the segment the vehicle fits into.

But they'll also consider the value of the car, safety features, and theft rates into the equation. If you're really curious, you can always ask for a quote from your insurance agent on both cars.

  4. My suggestion is trying to get as much resource as you can before making final decision, here is a good one.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/ca...

  5. Insurance companies look at a number of different factors when determining your insurance rate such as age, gender, location, marital status, credit history, make and model of car, and driving record.  I don't think that the actual horsepower really matters to the insurance company, but they will look at if it's a sports car or not (which will raise your rate if it is)

Id recommend going online and getting quotes for 3-5 insurance companies for both of the cars to see which is the most affordable to insure. The site below is really helpful because it allows you to compare quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area for free so you can find the cheapest rate possible.

    Hope this helped!
