  1. Some people braid there horses manes or put pajamas on them. =) I don't know really what it's called but I call them pajamas. They are things that cover your horses mane and neck, sometimes face with eye holes. I use them before a show. Hope I could help some.

  2. if its in great condition it should be fine, just dont go overboard on grooming and combing it, otherwise the hair will start to thin even more and fall out. otherwise it should be fine.

  3. I use cowboy magic detangler on my horses.  My Arab has a long thick mane of very fine hair.  This is the best product I have found to maintain it.

  4. Try VIP shampoos. This may be heredity!Could braid to help with breakage and growth. This also helps with thin manes If horse rubs alot take cautions with a braid this may cause pull outs.( meaning pulling chunks of hair out).

Wash and dry main comb with fingers to untangle bid messes then comb with a brush Don't braid TIGHT this will pull mane out when the horse turns head or stretches neck. About 3-4 inches from roots start the braid loose start to make tighter about half way down. When done tie up loose end under band or place another for this.Looks neater and last longer also keeps from breaking and stays alot cleaner. Leave hair at withers loose since this is likely to be pulled out LOOK AT SITE FOR FINISHED BRAIDS

  5. You lucky duck my mare has the thickest mane I've ever seen on a horse and its a pain. I think if you keep Absorbine Showsheen on it you can comb it all you want if you are careful. The stuff is amazing. I know people who swear by pasture braids but my mare will rub on trees to scratch them out. I love beautiful long long manes. Good Luck to you.

  6. Best way to keep a fine mane healthy is don't fuss with it, don't braid it or pull it. don't comb it everyday combing pulls out some of the hair.  If you are concerned with knots, spray the mane with Armoural (sp)  (the auto vinyl spray) or some silicone based spray which keeps knots from forming.  don't shampoo it every time you hose off  the horse.  Make sure that the mare is fed some nutrients for hair growth, like ground flax seed.  Apple Cider Vinegar is also a good supplement to put the shine into the hair
