i'd say the Dark knight too, I'm usually not too keen on superhero movies but the script and story line was amazing and the acting, especially by heath ledger was superb.

I was most surprised by Wall-E. Overall, though, I'd say The Dark Knight (although in all fairness, it took three viewings to win me over).

My fav so far this year, I saw it on cable TV - The world's fastest indian

It's a fact based underdog story about a kiwi bloke, who is quite happy tinkering away in the shed, who decides he wants achieve his goal of beating the speed limit on a motor-bike (BTW, he was in his 60's at the time!) - It's a really nice, heart warming story.
