Nobody forgot that Miandad six in last ball of over that sent India a shocker which they took more time to heal.Nobody forgot that 10-wicket haul of Kumble against Pakistan that made him to list of greats.

Nobody forgot that Aamir Sohail-Prasad fight in 96 WC QF.But after that 2004 series,Both India and Pakistan have played more matches and rivalry lost it's sheen. Both boards of countries should plan to make their rivalry to higher level by contesting series in 2 years instead of 1 year EG:-Ashes.Otherwise India-Pak rivalry will become history.

  1. what happened is India stopped taking Pakistan seriously

  2. The rivalry between India and Pak has fizzled out since the talks for peace started between the two countries. The players have a lot more respect for each other than they used to and they are more like friends off the field and that actually shows while they are playing.

  3. Pakistan furnishes their guests great hospitality as we do to them when they visit us , so this dissolves all the sporting confrontations occurring in the field ! They also consider it a game like us, just forget it when you are out of the field, they are our brothers !

cricket on field is separate, off field behavior is separate, when the two things get mixed up, the problems aggravate!

    hope it helps!

    god bless!

    best regards!

  4. well, i did not used to watch cricket at that time. but All i would say is, i started watching cricket when India went to england. and i liked india facing teams like england, Aussies, south africa!

I wouldn't bother too much if india were to face Pakistan. but i be sure taking a day off to see the one day match between India and auss:)..

  5. There are Several reasons, why popularity of India-Pakistan cricket matches hit the nadir.

    1. Too many matches played between the two teams in the recent past. Or in other words BCCI & PCB killed its goose which laid golden eggs.

    2. An ordinary Pakistani no more considers an Indian his principle enemy. And the Indian outlook about Pakistanis in general also changed.

    3. Increasing politics within PCB, and many of its players getting involved in different controversies, might have forced Pakistan cricket followers to rethink about their devotion to their national team.

    4. The extreme insecurity concerns & unlivable circumstances might have forced an average Pakistani to think that there are many more things to worry about cricket.

    5. India-Australia rivalry has peaked for the past few years.

    6. Pakistan is no more a formidable team as they used to be once.

    Possible remedies

    1. Reduce frequency of matches played between the two teams. Maybe fewer ODIs between the teams. Let the test matches be as it now. In a year India visit Pakistan and the next Pakistan visit India.

    2. Pakistan used to be bowling 'factory' which produced great fast & spin bowlers. Now it is not. There should be better players playing for Pakistan. The politicking in selection should be minimised if not abolished. Build a stronger team.

    3. Pakistan should be able to stabilise its political situation and other security worries.

Some of the above could be brought about. Others are  improbable things to happen. However playing lesser number of matches will be good for India too, as they are playing far too many matches.

  6. to many games spoiled it

  7. What happened was India found a new rivalry with Australia, and the Indian have found it is easier to rile up the Aussie than the Pakistani's so they pick on the Aussies now.

  8. Didn't they blow each other up

  9. India Australia  is much more fun to us

    Lol~
