What has happened now in 2008 to Sterling Barber? Did he remain free on bond or have a retrial.?

I watched the 48 hours special with great interest. I can't find any information on the outcome of this young man's new trial, or freedom.

  1. Sterling Barber was retried in 1999. He plead guilty to manslaughter, and was given a 5 year sentence. He received credit for time served, so he served 21 months more. He was released in 2001.


  2. Ferroll Sterling Barber was given a new trial and pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter.  He was sentenced to an additional 21 months in prison and was released in July 2000.
