Looking in the Radio Times for this week and next week there is no Countdown on Channel 4. Is the series terminated and I heard that Carol Vordaman was no longer working for Channel 4's Countdown, is this correct for the latter?

  1. i thought it was still running too!

  2. no because they told her to get 95% pay cut. so she left.

  3. Carol Vordermann has resigned after being 'offered' a 90% pay cut, apparently common in the TV industry when they no longer require your services.

  4. As far as I know it's still running isnt it? :/

    -x-

  5. apparently they cut her money and forced her to leave or something...

countdowns boring anyway...its all about the weakest link

  6. Correct for the former and the latter.

Des has said he is leaving and now Carol has said she's going too.

When the stuff they've recorded already and a few more are recorded, the pair will leave and two new people will be hired.

    Ding dong diddle de dong.

  7. Glorious Goodwood Horse racing it will be back next week as regards the atter lets wait and see Carol has more sense to open up now my thoughts though are she was pushed

  8. Carol Vorderman has decided to step down at the end of this series near to Christmas time.

  9. Carol Vorderman quit Countdown after she was told to take or leave a 90 per cent pay cut to her estimated £1 million-a-year salary.  Her manager has claimed Carol had been offered to accept a pay deduction of one-third in line with the show's 33 per cent budget but was left with no alternative and had to quit after she was told to take or leave the offer on the table.

She worked on the Channel 4 game show for 26 years, was allegedly told by one of the show's bosses: "Countdown easily survived without Richard, it can easily survive without you."

A raft of celebrities has spoken out in her favour. Esther Ranzten said, "I'm absolutely astonished that Carol's been treated with such an extraordinary lack of good manners."

Former weathergirl Sian remarked: "It's hard to imagine what appeal the show will have without her".

But this week programme makers, who are facing a 33 per cent cut in the show's overall budget as a result of the poor economic climate, insisted, "Countdown will continue, but with new presenters".

  10. i thought it wasn't on because of the horse racing(goodwood festival)

  11. I think that C4 thought that Carol Vordamans demand for seventeen and a half thousand pounds a day was a little excessive.

  12. yeah i think its been stopped for a while until they can find a suitable replacement for carol vorderman. She left because they wanted to cut her salary by 50% and she wasnt having any of it so she quit. Not sure when it will be back on though...
