  1. If people weren't  illiterate then they wouldn't need spellchecker.

Oh by the way, your grammar is pretty bad too! ironic really.

Lol to the dumbo's trying to write grammatically correct when they don't have a clue..........

  2. I guess most people just don't place as much emphasis on good language and grammar as they used to.

The average age of people who post on here may be a teller as well.

I definitely agree with your hypothesis that it's due to texting and the like over mobile phones and the inherent laziness. I for one usually like to hit a few extra characters, but that's just me.

  3. They have a whole keyboard full of lovely letters, but no one uses them. Real shame.

I think the new generation of people will end up riting lik dis.

    Just kids being lazy.

  4. i fink teh ansur itz becoz u kno kno inglish

    giv me tin pots

  5. Your question isn't perfect either. "No one" is two words, not hyphenated, "I" should always be capitalized and "cant" does not mean cannot. "Can't" does. However, your question is a lot easier to read than many. Text speak is gibberish or a language that should be confined to its purpose, texting. But before complaining about others, try to make your writing as good as possible.

I know my writing isn't perfect and I'm happy to accept correction. I like using the z in -ize/-ise words because I'm used to it. I'm British but I spent many formative years in New York. The ending, -ize can be used this side of the Atlantic, whatever the spell checker may say.

    Edit.

Carlita, you said, "I'm not usually this petty, but when people moan about bad grammar and spelling, I expect their own written English to be good."

I totally agree. Could I say, "Ditto!"?

  6. Just look at your question, and you have the answer!  Since when is no one spelled no-one, and I (i)  not capitalized?  No spacing between sentences, and what's with all the - - - - ?

Teachers no longer challenge students to write properly, and accept all this lazy writing as it is.

  7. THIS IS A FORUM THAT ATTRACTS INTELLIGENT PEOPLE. SO THEIR WILL BE SOME COMPROMISE WITH SPELLING.

  8. wot r u talkin' about?  u jus' gotta chill.

No really,  you are right,  it's just the sign of the times.  The English language is being slaughtered,  not just in written form,  but in speach too.  It is getting broken down to grunts, mumbles  and one syllable words.

The more refined folk like ourselves,  who have a respect and love for the English language will just have to cringe and put up with it.  Lol

By the way,  you did use a small 'i' for  I.  You need to capitilize it,  or were you too lazy to press the shift key?

    (smile)

    Peace

  9. I totally agree!

I take a pride in typing up words correctly, even putting 1 space after a coma, and 2 after a full stop!

I regret to say that when I read some of these questions and answers, I find myself thinking that these are uneducated people!  But, are they?  Or is this the thing to do now!

I feel that at the very least it is "slapdash" and at worse it is just not english!

Let us put it right and be proud of our "English Language"

  10. it's not because of the phones, but i completely agree with you.

  11. no you are not on your own,  half of them cant spell so they resort to txt speak, its since mobile phones appeared, its ok on phones but there,s no need  on here,

  12. No I fell the same way.

  13. nothen is rong wit our english or speak like wtf u smoken pot? roflolmao

  14. I say before you criticise others, check the question you have typed in.  It has two errors like No-one, cant. No one is the correct way of writing it, cant is written as can't. Not to mention how you you formulated your sentence.  It is terrible.

For Naturelo:  I think you mean "speech."

For Champagne:  dumbo's ?  This means dumbo is or it is

the possessive form for what dumbo has.  Plural for dumbo will be dumboes or dumbos.

For Carlita and Naturelo:  I  have noticed before the not capitalized "i" but I just ignored it thinking that the lady intentionally did it.  I also do it from time to time.

  15. No. Yuor Qutie rihgt. I thnik the mian porblem is taht so mnay of us hvae laerned to raed trhough the jbbiersh and jsut acpect the sutiation.

  16. you are just getting old my friend

  17. For one, check your English.

This is unbelievable, I don't know why people like you are so hypocritical these days.

  18. Well said Caito Kid. You shouldn't be criticising people when you don't even check what you write. Apart from what he pointed out, you are also not using capitals after one of your full stops, and your "i" should be "I".

Also the answerer who said "THIS IS A FORUM THAT ATTRACTS INTELLIGENT PEOPLE. SO THEIR WILL BE SOME COMPROMISE WITH SPELLING." The irony is delicious, IQ 150, there should be a comma before "so" and "their" should be "there", and people typing in capitals is almost as annoying as bad spellers!

  19. I hate it when people put a 'z' instead of an 's' at the end of words - eg Bratz. Anything mispelt for 'yoof' really annoys me, like n;sync!
