What has happened to decency in America? Everyone seems so full of hate&misery,do we have it so bad?

Our grandparents & great-grandparents suffered much more economically,they were lucky to have one car not three or four, we have become so self centered. We will never have enough, there will always be the newest cell phone, plasma t.v., etc. that we HAVE to HAVE. The more & bigger the better. What kind of example have we become to our kids? Years of ago purchases were need based & people would save for months to buy something, and it was treasured. We truly should try to be happier & count our blessings because we have many (take a look around).

Decency died with the Kennedy administation, if it ever existed in this country in the first place, crass consumerism came with the age of television, and has been getting worse each year.

i think people that run for office start more than anyone else. they always talk about how bad each party is. give it a rest already people. how can we get along with other countries when we cant even get along with our selves

Cars back then were not as wide spread so obviously people would have less.  Also there were barely any minimum wage laws and no social programs to help out those in need.

They did have it worse off than us in my opinion, but that was a different time.  It's like comparing apples and oranges in my opinion.
