What has happened to my Windows Media Player?

A few months ago I was able to burn songs to blank CDs easily with WMP, but now I have just tried and it seems to not be recognising the blank discs. I have Windows Vista Basic and have been able to do this fine before. Any ideas?

  1. Well, if you were able to do so at one point, perhaps now your CD drive is starting to burn out? I had the opposite problem. I could burn, but couldn't read. Turned out, I needed a new drive.

Before considering a new drive, check to see if your computer is see'ing the drive (unde My Computer), and try something else like MediaMonkey or WinAMP.

  2. Sometimes it burns in a different format it can read. Bottom line, its more then likely not going to work. Just use Vista's g*y program lol.

Also, the problem may not be with the CD, its probably because you're using Vista :|

  3. If the disk cannot be read from other computer disk drive, and your

disk drive can read other disks, this will be a disk issue.

If the disk can be read from another computer disk drive, and your disk

drive can read other disks, this will be a drive and disk compatibility

    issue.

If the disk can be read from another computer disk drive, and your disk

drive cannot read other disks, this will be a drive issue.

    Try updating Drivers.

  4. Just try interactualplayer on your web site.  I had a similar problem and it cured mine.  Best of luck.  Don't understand the tech side. All I can do is say what I got.
