2 days back my 13 yr old german shepherd fainted on the road while i was walking him and didnt have food tht day.next day he again blacked out at home and didnt eat that day also xcept for biscuits and some milk.i called the vet immediately she said he has got 104degree fever and gave him some injections and took his blood for tests.the tests showed his platlet count is very low 13000.the vet says this is a cause of worry nd said he could be having internal bleeding as well.today he puked and it was red nd his stools were also red.the vet has given medicines for that but i m still worried.is it something fatal??

  1. They need to do x-rays or something? Something is really not right.. You might wanna see a different vet before it's too late. Bloody stool is a sign of something serious. Medicine can not help that. Good luck =)

  2. You best bet is to ask your vet the cause.  It could be

age, injury, worms, or something he shouldn't have eaten.   Were his teeth and gums red?  (Usually internal bleeding causes the stool to look green.)

    .

  3. His age is working against him and he is probably in a lot of pain. Discuss with your vet about having him put to sleep...prolonging his agony will not be good for him or you.

If this seems cold or callous I am sorry and I feel your pain as I lost my female Border Collie last week. She was 15 years old and suffered a stroke which weakened her immune system and she developed pneumonia. The vet said there was very little chance of her every really recovering so I made the decision to end her suffering. It was very hard to do but she gave me 9 years of wonderful memories that I will never lose.

  4. wow,  i am so sorry for everything that is happening....i have a german shepherd who is 9 years old and has alot of health issues so i know how hard it can be.....It sounds very serious,  but I do not know; nor do I think anyone except for a vet would know if it is fatal unless they saw the dog personally..... There's always things that can fix problems like these (MOST of the time) but it ALWAYS costs a fortune.  Which is most of the time the problem when people try to help their animals.  They just can't afford it, and they end up being put down.  I wish the best of luck for you, and animals are VERY strong and can deal with alot so dont give up.  I'm sure he'll be okay :)

  5. That's a question for your vet.  It definitely sounds very serious.  Good luck with your dog.

  6. take it to the vets
