What has happened to the beach at Playacar Mexico?

We stayed at Riu Tequila, Playacar, Mexico in September 2006 and the beach was fantastic. We have booked the same hotel again for June this year (2008) and I notice that the beach appears to have been washed away. What has really happened and is anyone going to repair it?

I am going to the same place in june 08!!! Apparently it is eroded due to hurricane wilma, but from what people say it has happened very quickly and they can't seem to get it under control!
