What has our society come to?

If you watch the news at all, you've probably heard about the elderly Hartford man who was hit by a speeding car and is now paralyzed from the neck down. The story is sad... but what makes it worse is that the bystanders around the scene did absolutely nothing to help this man! Cars drove around this poor man laying in the middle of the street, bleeding excessively from the head.

For a whole minute and a half no one did anything!

It's not society as a whole, it's the morality of each indivdual that stood by and did nothing that is wrong.

Yes, it is sad. But what is more than a little bothersome is that noone took aminute out of their day to see if the man in question was hurt badly.

Society has actually been worse than this.  In medievil times he would have been sold as scrap meat.
