  1. and you would be correct.

  2. The 14 cylinder Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C turbocharged two-stroke diesel is the largest and most powerful reciprocating internal combustion engine in the world.  They are used in container ships.  Total displacement is 1,556,002 cubic inches.  The engine is 89' long and 44' tall.  This behemoth produces 5,608,312 lb/ft torque @ a whopping 102 rpm.  It also consumes 1,660 gallons of fuel per hour!

There are gas/steam hybrid turbines used in naval vessels and other large ships that produce more power, as do rockets, and nuclear reactor powered carriers, but as far as sheer size I'd imagine the Wartsila-Sulzer diesel is the largest dimensionally.

  3. The biggest engine is the universe

  4. Hi D, I agree, plus some aeroplanes too.My heart as the biggest engine, To keep me motoring forward.Towards you. hahahahahahaha.

  5. By biggest do you mean power? if so then the rocket that sent men to the moon must be in the running.

  6. I know it takes 27 miles for the biggest ship to fully stop! and its an oil tanker. Don't know about the size of the engine, I think its a 50cc and you can drive it on a mo ped license?

  7. Shouldn't you be cleaning your house??

  8. Some of the ships I worked on had huge turbine engines, however for thrust output, you cannot beat a space shuttle booster rocket.

How about a nuclear reactor on an american Aircraft carrier.

  9. Dont know about ships,I imagine they would be pretty big.

The engine that controls the concentrator rock crushers in mining are simply massive engines. The concentrator at my work is powerfull enough to run a city of 5million people for one day
