  1. Humans are the only animals I've ever heard of that show any concern whatsoever for the ecosystem in which they live.  Individual stewardship of ecology, however, follows a normal distribution, with exceptional stewardship offset by deplorable stewardship.  Since humans have been around for 30,000 to 1,000,000 years, the equilibrium could be taken to be relatively stable.

    Dolphins and whales might be having a better effect on the oceans, but we don't know enough about them to even know if they practice stewardship or husbandry.
