Risk used to have wooden pieces, now they are plastic. Trouble never came on a cheezy board like it does now, Have you bought Monopoly lately, the board folds 4 times instead of in half like it used to, same as Clue. What has our generation gotten all weird or what.

  1. There are a few saviors of the "old games" out there.  I happen to be one of them.  Check us out.

  2. Thank Walmart, and slave wages

People are too cheap to pay a decent price for goods anymore, so the consumer gets stuck with disposable c**p.

I don't buy anything anymore because it's just so sleezy.

  3. I can't speak for Trouble, but:

Plastic pieces can be made into specific shapes and given detail, giving more interesting pieces that wooden blocks did.  This has greater appeal, especially to younger players.

4 fold boards fit into a smaller package than 2 fold boards, reducing the packaging cost and shelf space required for the game.

And no, for the record, I have not bought Monopoly lately.  I'm busy buying fantastic board games that are a lot of fun to play, have high quality components, and definetely aren't the same old stuff people are used to buying!

If you like board games, check out some great games like Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, BattleLore, Factory Fun, Alhambra, Yspahan, Notre Dame and many more.

  4. They've gone cheap!

  5. Production costs are actually quite high for games, so makers tend to go cheap with boards and pieces and stuff.  There are actually some very nicely made games out there, check out some of the stuff at http://www.consimworld.com/expo/index.ht...

  6. my clue board isn't even folded at all... and it was only bought last year!! and what does it really matter??? a game is a game... i couldn't care less if its folded in 2 or 4... i mean, board games arent the #1 seller out there so therefore they have to save money... hey why not!!??? i know if i can save money i sure will!!! and i am sure most people will!! and the less money they spend on it the less money they can sell it to me for :D

  7. I agree.....but they seem to be re gurgatating the same games. Why not make different ones?
