What have you done, to mess with telemarketers?

I can't be bothered.  If they start in on me, I'll just quietly set the phone down and let them blab to their heart's content.  A few hours later I'll remember and go hang the phone up.

I have the do-not-call thing.

I hope they call so I can turn them in.

Told them "Shut up before I kill your mom!" And he said "You don't touch my mom *********.!" Pretty hilarious.

I had telemarketers calling me at least 12-15 times per day.  You can't imagine how horrid it was.  I would be so irritated that by noon, I would be screaming into the phone.

I wound up changing my phone to a private number.

Then, the gov't finally came out with the do not call list.  This was the final nail in the coffin of telemarketers! Yay!

Generally I rip them a new one, yelling at them, telling them they are a despicable person.  I try to ruin the callers day.

But, I must say that the best idea is to just toss the phone across the phone, much like the first answer here.  It doesn't take my time, doesn't make someone else in the house think I'm really angered, doesn't let my kids hear me speaking so nastily to someone, and most importantly works best as far as getting them to not call back.

But yelling a and swearing is so much fun.  They appologize and try to explain.  I think many are trained to never hang up.  I had callers on the line taking abuse for 30 minutes.

they offered me 5000 dollars and i aksed how many penies that is like i was VERY concerned. he was indian i could tell and he kinda freaked. "um excuse sir? thats 5000 dollars" "yes! but how many PENNIES is that!?" "um sir if you act now.....

best ever.

I start a sales pitch for my bicycle. How much is he willing to pay? Where is he so I can bring it over to give him a test ride.

Does he already have a bicycle? Why not, what's wrong with bicycles? Is he prejudiced against bicycle riders?

How can he live with himself if he's that much of a bigot.

My mother was almost killed when some guy that hated bicycles tried to run her down. Was it YOU!!!!!!!!?

I doesn't take long for them to figure out they're not going to make a sale and hang up.

I have ask them to hold on while get someone to talk with them, then just lay the phone down til they hang up.

I pretend i'm also a telemarketer and tell them i'll listen to them if they buy from me first.
