What have you done for me lately?

I'm a newbie part-time journalist and my Managing editor asked me the above question....I'm not sure how to respond...is he looking for new stories from me? Or suggestions? Help!!

This is often a rude way of responding to a person who has asked you to do something for them that you have no intention of helping him or her.

It's just business.  You must constantly perform or risk being canned.  That's the way the things work in a capitalist society.
