What have you done in your budget to make up for the rising gas and food prices?

I sold my 2nd digital camera and am going to sell some jewelry and 2nd computer. I'm trading babysitting instead of paying. We moved closer to my job and my husband drives the company truck 45 minutes instead. What have you had to do? Our pantry shelves are getting barer, like last night we had fried mashed potatoes and hot dogs. We cut back on our savings by $200 each month. Its looking bad guys, what are you doing to cope?

I did absolutely nothing.

We have enough money to afford it all, so we didn't change anything..

But we are getting a more fuel efficient car because maybe it will help pollution, but prices are not affecting us in anyway. Hopefully we don't land ourselves in another "great depression".

I, purchased a set of barber clippers for about 60$. This saves me 60$/month because i would make trips to the barber shop once a week at 15$ per haircut. I also started washing my own car instead of going to the car wash. This saves me about 50$ per month. In total, i cut back about 100$ a month.

my husband & i both drive vw bettles use to cost 20 to fill each now 65. so i don't go out as much, my husband and i try to get everything we need in one trip, I shop better , i have 6 huge dogs so i make them rice with there dog food cause it cost so much now,  we save cans & plastic and bottles recycle i get a extra 75 dollars a month form them. Have lots of backyard parties and invite the neighbors to bring something saves on going out and its fun.i save on my electric bill buy running a swamp cooler my house is ice cold for only 30 a month instead of 300 for reg air.. i don't water in the yard i got pretty colored rocks instead i feed the bunnys 37 of them with the extra veg and fruit waist they eat that and the weeds, win win, i use coupons when i can and add it up so than i feel like i'm getting free gas , my husband and i still go see our kids in az and san francisco on the weekends and drive but it's cool i am saving in other ways..oops forgot i sell useless things to me on craigslist that others want last month i sold 3 old boats i had for years and made 3000. so i gave the money to my daughters so they could visit friends in germany..
