  1. im exempt... so at least i dont have to worry about calculating everything this year. i plan to give a bag of food stuff to my bowab though.. rice, oil, macaroni, dates that sort of stuff.

  2. I am 16 so i dont give Zakat yet, but i do give charity to the poor.

    Good work, sister!

  3. I'm clueless but kudos for asking the question- maybe I'll get some ideas.

  4. Zakat is one of the 5 pillars of Islam; it is mandatory for those who have bounty to share with the poor. The poor and downtrodden needs our helping hands and this is done through the alms tax or zakat. One has to part with only 2.5% of one's fixed liquid assets over a year to be given out as zakat to ease the burden of the poor.

It is customary for Muslims to offer zakat during Ramadhan month, i.e. to pay you zakat on your 'liquid' assets/wealth which include income, stocks & shares, cash, cattle, sheep, grains and similar (but not for fixed assets like a house/buildings, land, vehicles, etc) as well as zakat fitrah (that needs to be settled before 'Idul Fitr solat).

  5. it takes away from the reward when you tell others. the left hand is not supposed to know even what the right hand has given

  6. She may not have known, she is a new Muslim after all - Allah will forgive her.
