What have you gained by looking at the world sociologically?

I'm not really sure what the word "sociologically" means but I think it has something to do with the word "social" and the ending "ogy" means study of so Sociologically means the study of social. Which really makes no sense to me. I'm sure that I've learned something though.

the knowledge that it's always been very bad, but it continues to get better.

Knowing about sociology helps  in understanding people's intentions.  When you are aware of human nature and the things that ever person is striving for in their life, you can see their actions in a different light.  It is easier to understand people if you know why they do the things they do.  Many people may seem to have malicious intentions, but when you know where they come from, it is easier to relate to them.
