hey any regulars that might remember me ^____^

I haven't been on this site in a while, but I remember coming to this site before I got Ghost trying to find out what the best food was.

I learned alot about types of dog food,

not to give my dog rawhide,

that dermal thingies are better then clippers

that alot of people on the internet think pit bulls are killers

and that alot of people on the internet don't like taking their pets to vets!

what were the best things you learned from the dog section?

star please ^____^

  1. I've only been here a couple of weeks and am still in a state of shock.

I can't believe how much breeding goes on by people who have done no homework and how many pups are taken from their family too early.

I've decided not to answer those posts any more and just help people who seem to have done their homework and needsome help.

  2. I have learned a lot more about humans than dogs.

Humans are mostly arrogant individuals.  I guess I knew that, but am amazed to see it soooooo profuse in society. They fail to be even minutely polite to other people.

Humans also have no idea or self identity at times.  It's amazing to see how many of them strive for some other person's ideal of perfection rather than just seeking their own or just loving their dog the way it is.

Too many humans spend too much money on things that are not important.  I am amazed at the people who don't get basic immunizations for their pet, but pay so much for toys, clothes, carrying bags, leashes, etc that are not really that important.  A dog will play with a pair of socks just as well as a ten dollar toy. A dog has no idea there is a difference in a dollar store leash compared to a $25 leash.

Too many humans are too accepting of biting dogs and even make excuses for them.  Biting dogs do not belong in society.  Any dangerous dog does not belong in a house with a child.

Too many humans fail to see that children are more important than dogs. A dog is a dog a child is a child.  There is a huge difference.

I have leaned about dogfoods that are more prevalent in other parts of the nation or in larger urban areas.  I had never heard of innova evo until I found this board. I also learned that too many vets convince people that too many unnecessary procedures are the norm.  That may be true in some areas, but not in all rural areas. Dogs don't need pins for a leg to heal when a cast will do just as well and be safer in most instances.  They don't need surgery for every little thing when another procedure will be safer and still achieve healing.

I have also learned that altering is done WAAAYYYYYY to young by a lot of quacky people calling themselves vets moonlighting in shelters.  That is just tragic. I don't know of one good doctor who would alter a two month old animal. It is not in the best interest of the animals.

I have learned that humans seem to be comfortable throwing money away on OTC products that will not successfully prevent nor treat fleas.  They spend five times the amount of money on trash than they would by simply buying a tube of Frontline or Advantage in the first place. Why waste $30 on things that don't work rather than just buying a tube of the good stuff for half that?

I have learned that America needs strong nationwide BSL. Too many kids are dying from dangerous animals because their owners will not control them.  We don't put machine guns into the hands of the general public, ans we shouldn't put dogs that are just as deadly. Nations all over the world have BSL to keep their society safe.  We should be the same.  Too many people are mauled or killed at the teeth of aggressive dogs each year.

  3. i learned that people will claim to be experts and answer questions when they have no clue what they are talking about

there are some good people on here who do know and will help you

i have been breeding dogs for 13 years and have owned them for 30 and i have learned a few things on  here

  4. No one can name their new puppy without help;

    What kinds of foods are good for them and what kinds aren't;

That there are good people that do all they can to help their dog and keep it happy and healthy...but there are many more just looking for a cheap home remedy when their dog is missing a limb or worse.

Not enough people understand there is no such thing as a teacup dog.

And there are some really good hearted people on here that just want to help where they can.

  5. that my opinion is no better or worse than most peoples and unless you know the source don't take anything at face value.

  6. hmmmm. idk lol have fun?

    i forget :(

    ADD:

"teacups" are stupid and so are pet stores!

    ADD:

geez. a thumbs down for not remembering?

okay most people are SO ignorant including the person that gave me a thumbs down

  7. ive learned that quite a few people are very judgemental and rude, oh and also that it is not easy to make friends even though im somewhat of a "regular".

edit: two thumbs downs, really? haha. how mature.

  8. Oh, I've learned lots and lots.

I've learned that most people haven't a clue what they're doing, and shouldn't be raising mold, much less a dog.

I've learned that humans are greedy, selfish creatures.

I've learned that most dog owners don't know what they're dog was bred for, and why it exhibits breed-specific behaviors.

And, I've learned that I have an idiocy limit for the day....think I've reached it.

Welcome back....good to see you :)

  9. I learned that some people should really not be pet owners.  I have seen so many ignorant questions on here and people that think backyard breeding is OK.  I swear if I see another "where can I get a teacup so-and-so?" or "I don't want to get my dog spayed and she might be pregnant...what do I do?" I'm going to scream.

Seriously people.  Research these things BEFORE you get a pet.

  10. I have learned most people have pets but don't care about them. I see most questions are health related and the poor suffering animals need medical help. I have also learned that a lot of people care about animals other than me. I see a lot of answers saying go to a shelter, stay away from back yard breeders, puppy mills, and pet shops! Which is really true!

  11. I learned different types of dogs and their personalities! Now I can tell what breeds dogs are easily!

  12. I have learned that people choose to be ignorant about breed selection, buying puppies from puppy stores, buying off the internet, stupidity on supporting BSL instead of harsher punishments for the humans that use these poor creatures for greed, believing that spaying or neutering their dog(s) is unnecessary, taking puppies away from the mothers too soon for no good reason, and that people are dumb to believe that dogs don't need walks.

In other words, my belief that human beings are the scum of the planet has been reinforced 20 fold.

  13. I've learnt that a lot of people dont seem to understand what is needed to be a pet owner but most want to learn.

Ive learnt that people would sit by typing questions on computer when their pet clearly needs to go to see a vet.

I do really think if you've got a sick pet that phoning your vet for advice is the best thing to do and yahoo answers shouold only be used for general pet enquiries.

  14. Honestly, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that there are a lot of ignorant people out there who are determined to remain that way. There's no cure for stupid!

But I have gotten to meet a lot of other people who know what they're talking about...and I've learned that a lot of people need help naming their dogs :)

  15. I never knew housebreaking a pup could be so hard... or for that matter that people are so astonishingly ignorant of basic animal husbandry &/or basic biology
