I'm a big boy, 6'5", 170-ish lbs, what weight would be best for me? Also, can I just use wrestling shoes for boxing?

  1. When it comes to weight, I usually recommend a heavy-bag that's approximately 50% of your body weight. In your case, since your weight is in the 170s, I'd say 80-90 pound bag would be okay for you.

  2. Yes you can use Wrestling shoes for boxing. It depends on where you putting it. Something at home shouldn't be that heavy. I have a bag in my basement Everlast Blue Never-tear 50 pounds its small but i only use it to practice my Jab and Combinations the real heavy bags should be for the gym. The Heavy bag doesn't hit back man no need to pound it on just work technique. Thats why the weight really dosent matter.

  4. you could always just get some sand bags and hang them up in your yard to use but the shoes wrestling shoes are good and the bags always depends on what you want to use them for training a 60lb bag is good just for fun go get a water filled bag from mo dells or ***** and use that

  5. I recommend this bag so often that people probably think I have stock in the company (I don't).

I absolutely love the PowAir Water Bag.  You can purchase on through www.titleboxing.com or www.ringside.com  - look for the regular water-filled bag, not the water bag with the foam liner as I feel that is too soft.

The water bag I have is 3 feet long and weighs 120 lbs.  It has give to it so it is easier on your hands.  The sand-filled bags tend to settle and that makes the lower half too hard, like punching a brick wall.  The water bag does not settle.  And it has a more realistic feel, like you are hitting an opponent.
