  1. Sections are not heights as such, but the sizes of breeds, for example a welsh section a is the smallest breed, a section b is a little bigger etc until you get to section d which is the biggest of the lot.

  2. "Section" really depends on the breed in question.

If you're talking about Welsh - the Mountain Pony is recorded in Section A of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society stud book, so fully registered Welsh Mountain Ponies are commonly referred to as "section A" ponies.  The upper height limit for a Welsh Mountain Pony is 12h.  If a pony is above that, it can be upgraded to a Welsh Riding Pony, which is in section B of the stud book.

The Dales Pony Society also has different sections to its stud book and Dales section As are the truest to type.  Upper height limit for a Dales is 14.2h.

  3. Section A = under 12 hands

Section B = over 12 hands and under 13.2 hands

Section C = over 12 hands and under 13.2 hands - but it is cobbier

Section D = over 13.2 hands and under 14.2 hands

    hope this helped

  4. section a isnt a height: its a section of the welsh breed of ponies. but a section a pony can only be up to about 12.2hh before it is a section b.

    much love xx
