What helps you to fall asleep faster/better?

I am having trouble falling asleep and it takes me a while before I fall asleep (like half an hour to an hour).

  1. My problem is that I have trouble shutting down my brain at bedtime.  My solution is that I watch TV and that occupies my brain and I'm able to shut down and fall asleep easily.  I'll set the TV timer to 60 minutes but I'm probably asleep in 20 minutes.  It may work for you, too.....

  4. first of all, dont do any activities 1 hour before u go to bed...that just wakes u up even more....second of all, eat turkey....theres something in turkey that makes people tired...worked for me!...thirdly, try listening to relaxing music and reading a book...if none of these work, then try the counting back from 100...however, u might want to see a doctor...if none of these work and u continue to have issues...!

  5. Get more exercise during the day and force yourself to wake up earlier than normal.

  6. I used to have this issue, even worse than you actually (it used to take me 3-5 hours just to get my eyes closed). Try to avoid carbs and sugar before you to bed. Don't include too many in your dinner. These will give you sugar high before you sleep, and then you'll suddenly be starved in the middle of the night.

    Also, although this may sound strange, professionals say you should not excersize before you go to sleep, because it tends to energize you, and can actually help keep you awake. In other words, it's better to do this during the day.

    If none of this helps, try drinking herbal tea (expect for Green tea). Oolong and 'Dreamland' work really well for me when I need a boost.

    When you go to sleep do  everything you can to distract yourself from the real world. Doze off into fantasy land for a while. Forget about all your troubles and concerns, and just relax.
