  1. WE DON'T NEED TO GET INVOLVED!!!  If its not about us, we should just stay out of it.

  2. We can't be too radical about helping others esp in this scenario... Many things had to be considered and understood.

  3. I think people are turned off about helping

look at what "helping" iraq did

I think America should mind it's business

  4. Because it will involve nuclear weapons?

Think about it. If Russia gets attacked by superior manpower, they will use their nuclear bombs when they see an imminent defeat.

USA will certainly respond with its own nukes. Russia will up the ante and send in some to USA mainland.

It will be the start of the end. So be careful what you wished for.

  5. I'm not condoning the actions taken by Russia but this explains why other countries haven't intervened.

Georgia sent in battalions of troops into the breakaway province of South Ossetia.  For fear of invoking wrath, sort of similar to what Serbia did with Kosovo minus they massive Ethnic Cleansing.  Russia took the same action as NATO.

However, Russia's actions are massively disproportionate and has now intervened in the larger breakaway area of Abkhazia in the west of Georgia.

Other countries are not going to get involved because this mess was started by Georgia, only if Russia decided to try full military deployment and forced regime change would the West even consider retaliating.

  6. georgia is the aggressor in this conflict.  and they bombed civilians.  nato warned the georgian president to NOT use military force.  he did anyway.  i think you underestimate the seriousness of the situation.

  7. The liberals took over the House and Senate and forbade us from any battles - even to protect our allies

    Peace

  8. There's nothing wrong with helping allies. But that's had to be viewed in perspective.

The whole world knows that the president of Georgia started this mess by sending its army to attack Osetia, killing thousands of civilians and many Russian peacekeepers. Who'se to blame the Russians if they responded with brutal force?. After all, Russia has the right to protect its own citizens from harm.

Now, if I may ask you. Would you help an ally even if that ally was responsible for starting a conflict?.

  9. nostalgic elder?

  10. The UN is meeting right now. Diplomatic efforts must be tried first. The US  cannot get involved in every war. I think it is up to other members of NATO to go in and help.

  11. As mentioned below - why is it always the United States taking on action about something? Then the rest of the world sits back and criticizes about it, or better yet they sit their selling weapons to the people in the opposition to the US like the French & Germans did in Iraq before we invaded.

The rest of the world is constantly screaming about look at the US whey are they doing this or why aren't we doing that. I agree with the exception of the Brits I'm fed up with the Europeans - all mouth.

Look at the french have they been involved with anything since Clinton bombed Libya?  No they wouldn't even let our plane fly over french soil when we bombed them.

As far as I can remember they have opposed us and been a passive member of NATO, if it wasn't for the USA they would be speaking German!!!  We pulled their fat out of the fire in WW 1 & 2...

The only thing they have that is worth a c**p is their newest fighter aircraft but the missiles & radar are just as they are - pathetic

  12. You say>" I mean who's next if Russia gets away with this"...

A bit like the pot calling the kettle black, don't ya think!

    Did you forget about Iraq?

  13. It is acceptable to help our allies and I am all for it, but where is the European outcry, why aren't they making a stink about it. They would wait for us to make a move and then critisize us for doing so.
