What heratige or background whatever does the last name Chapman come from, I believe it may be Irish. Also what heratige is Ferguson from?

Last names MAY be of a certain origin/ base.. it does not mean a person is automatically that background. For example.. if a person had the last name of Lee.. they could be English, or they might be Chinese.

The origin of a name is called surname etymology, and while it seems THE SAME as genealogy.. it is NOT.

To know the accurate background of a person, you MUST trace their family to the immigrant ancestor and confirm where they came from.

Chapman is English. It means merchant.

Ferguson is Scottish. It means son of Fergus. Fergus means strong man.

Since the UK is a small island, it's still possible/probable that there are some Irish ancestors in those family lines.
