A 12" 1500w PEAK 300 RMS SUBWOOFER OR A 12" 800w PEAK 400 RMS SUBWOOFER

  1. depends on the brands.. a lot of cheap brands overrate their subs and amps. if they were the same brand then the 1500w peak sub as long as you have an amp that can push it.


  2. let me tell you right now it does depend on the quality of the sub. in most cases the 400w rms sub will hit harder.

    but evan is wrong about the jl w3 being better then a alpine type r. cause those are both high quality subs jl just cost twice as much.

  4. Assuming they are powered by the same amp... the sub with the higher RMS rating will hit harder... in most cases, depending on the brand of the subwoofer.

    Example 12" Alpine Type R 1000 watt peak, 500 RMS

                     vs.

                    12" JL Audio w3 600 watt peak, 300 RMS

    The JL w3 is by far the better sub.
