There is the Onkyo( http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665360000 )

The sony is $70 cheaper and has 200 more watts. I will just be using it for gaming and I'm not really an audiophile but it shouldn't be crappy. The only thing about the Onkyo is that it has more inputs on the back and I think they are nicer speakers but I dont know. I'm going to put it in my bedroom so I don't need it to be that loud. I don't know if anyone has heard or seen them but I was wondering if you could give me suggestions.

  1. Since it is a bedroom unit then go with the Onkyo. Sony receivers SUCK! Onkyo has alway made better receivers than Sony. You also answered your own question. The onkyo has better speakers & it has more inputs for expansion. Onkyo tend to sound better/warmer than Sony anyway.

  2. Forget Sony, more watts doesn't mean better sound. Onkyo uses high currents amps while Sony doesn't, meaning that even with 10 or more watts less per channel a high current amp with lower wattage will sound better than a low current amp with higher wattage.

I would definitely go with either Onkyo or Yamaha's RXV series.
