  1. I make my own.

  2. You can look into Christian Liberty Press Academy, they have everything you are looking for, and are inexpensive, but provide a good quality education.

They have been providing services for home school families since the 60's.

    Regular homeschool web site

  3. pennfoster

  4. You're thinking about cyber school or corespondance school. "School at home", as some would call it, but not really the same as homeschooling.

I've heard some good things about K12, though it's free so that means it's pretty much a public school...

Penn Foster is supposed to be good as well, but I don't see how you can really learn a whole lot (unless you're very dedicated and disciplined) when every test is open book... And too many kids try to cheat with PF.

If you're bright you could try EPGY. It's an online program run by Stanford University for cognitively gifted highschoolers, but I think the tuition is costly.

Just type online homeschool or cyberschool into google and examine your results.

  5. You may want to try K12 - while they have a curriculum for every state - a lot of states, depending where you are they have states that have online academies which are free - and also another level which is cheaper... forgot what that one was called though. It is all online - I believe k12.com

  6. That's not homeschooling; that's distance education. Presuming you're in the US (I'm not), there are a number of distance education providers, both online and correspondence based, as well as being both public (essentially free at the point of delivery) or private (fee paying).

My siblings and I are all homeschooled (I'm 15). We don't follow any sort of curriculum  or use any set materials or bought-in materials. Neither do we have any tutors although we have had a governess in the past.

In my family, we simply decide for ourselves what we wish to study and how, then we find our own material, books etc and then we just get on and study by ourselves.

  7. k12 is the one that I use now but there are many different kinds out there depending on the state you live in. email me if you need more info or you can go to my 360 for help

  8. Homeschool is not something that you use; it is educating onself at  home or being educated by one's parents at home.  If you truly want to be homeschooled (not public schooled at home), you must ask your parents for their permission.  If they agree, find out what it takes to be legally homeschooled in your state.  The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) has this information on their website, along with information on how to get started in homeschooling; the link is below:

    http://www.hslda.org/

It sounds as though you are looking for a virtual online school that serves public school students at home.  However, this is "public school at home"--not homeschool.  There are online homeschool curricula for high schoolers also; some are as follows:

K12, Inc. curriculum is offered through virtual/charter online public schools but can also be purchased independently:

    http://www.k12.com/curriculum_and_produc...

Other online homeschool curricula are listed below:

    Switched on Schoolhouse

    http://www.aop.com/sos/Subjects_index.ph...

University of Missouri (Center for Distance & Independent Study)

    http://cdis.missouri.edu/

    Keystone National High School

    http://www.keystonehighschool.com/curric...

    Ablaze Academy

    http://www.ablazeacademy.com/#topchoice\

There are also "school in a box" homeschooling options that are a lot less expensive than online options; you pay a set price for i.e., 12th grade curriculum, and they will send you all the books you need in a box.  One is Christian Liberty Press; the link is below:

I hope this information is helpful.

  9. Flvs.net is free and very good. The teachers are available 8am to 8 pm and you can call or email.

  10. Eeek! Stay away from K12!

If you truely want to "homeschool", K-12 is not the way to go. I could give you many reasons why. But if you are looking to just "school at home", that's different.

First you want to go to the website for your state's Office Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and read the laws regarding "Home Education" or "Alternate Education". For example, in CA, be sure you are enrolled in some kind of Umbrella school, or you could be looking at some serious legal trouble. Go check out the website for the Home School Legal Defense Association (www.HSLDA.org) and check out what they say. They can point you straight to your state laws, too.

I'm all about homeschooling. But for financial reasons, have enrolled the girls in a great "public school program". These people essentially let me continue homeschooling, under supervision (very little supervision). And I get to use some of those tax dollars instead of it going to our local school and us not getting any benefits from it. Oh, it's great! If you are in WA, let me know and I can tell you all about it.

K-12 makes the same claims, but alas they are all lies. Lies lies lies. That or the people trying to promote the program have actually no knowledge (zero, zip) of how the program works. Too time consuming and printing online if you ask me. False advertising.

Good luck. do a lot of reading at your local library and online to determine what it is you are really looking for. From what little you've described, I'd recommened some kind of alternate form of education. There's even schools they just check in with the teacher and do all their work from home. Talk to your school District office.
