  1. Clean wheat straw is by far the best.

  2. straw/alfalfa mixture is best

    worst is lime dust

good ole red wood chips are great when freshly cut

  3. King size

  4. Really good, clean wheat straw that has been properly put up is my favorite as it is the least dusty and makes a deep, comfortable bed, then large, soft, curly, pine wood shavings would be next on my list, on down to sawdust - which is the cheapest and easiest to clean and least wasteful, but is the worst of the three for putting dust and irritants on their coats and in their lungs.  Some horses will eat straw which is a problem before a race, so for those you are better off with the shavings.  I've also heard of using peat, paper or re-hydrated wood pellets - but have never tried any of these myself.

  5. Clean Good Quality Wheat Straw is the best all around bedding,

Some people use wood shavings but they tend to be really dusty.

Rice hulls work also, harder to find
