  1. While Big Brown is the obvious choice to win, you aren't going to make any money betting him. You would be better off betting on who will finish behind him, or playing an exacta or such.

  2. Did you miss the Ky. Derby??

  3. Place a $2 wager on each entrant. It will cost $26. Anything can happen in thoroughbred racing.

This will guaranty you have the 2008 Preakness winner.

Take a $1 exacta wheel with Big Brow and all other entrants.  It will cost $12.

The odds suggest Big Brown will win.  This is a rare 3YO colt with exceptional ability and fitness.  With this ticket Big Brown must finish first.  Hopefully a long shot will finish second.

  4. Big Brown for sure.

The horse that finished 17th in the Ky. Derby is going out at 8-1.

That should tell you how superior Big Brown is compared to the rest of the field.

  5. Yeah seriously. Did you miss the Kentucky Derby? Well if you didnt then you should know who to lay down the money for. Big Brown. In my opinion Big Brown might just take the triple crown this year.

  6. I'm sure Eight Belles would "have loved" to be alive tonight too!!!

Ban horseracing. It is not a sport. It is cruelty to animals. Simply boycott it and urge your friends to do likewise.

If horses could talk, they would demand to be freed.

  7. Going back 73 years to 1935, only 9 horses who won the Preakness did not run in the Kentucky Derby that year, those being 1945 Polynesian, 1951 Bold, 1962 Greek Money, 1972 Bee Bee Bee , 1980 Codex, 1982 Aloma's Ruler, 1983 Deputed Testamony, 2000 Red Bullet, and 2006 Bernardini. Only 9 non-Kentucky Derby starters to win the Preakness in the past 73 years pretty much limits my favorites to the Kentucky Derby contenders among the Preakness starters, Big Brown and Gayego. Lay some money down on those two.

Gayego finished 17th in the Kentucky Derby, so does he really have much of a chance in the Preakness? If Big Brown has a bad day, you betcha Gayego has a real chance! Louis Quatorze finished 16th in the 1996 Kentucky Derby but won the Preakness by 3 lengths, challenged only by Skip Away in the final stretch. Skip Away finished 12th in the 1996 Kentucky Derby. And the 1996 Peakness odds-on favorite, Cavonnier, who finished 2nd in the Kentucky Derby, beaten only by a nose by Grindstone, didn't even finish in the money at the Preakness. The 1996 Derby winner, Grindstone, didn't compete in the Preakness because, having showed signs of lameness after a routine workout a week after the Derby, x-rays found a chip in his knee and he was retired to stud. Anything can happen in a race, so Gayego does have a real chance if Big Brown has a bad day such as the odds-on favorite Cavonnier did at the 1996 Peakness.

I think for the 9/73 reason as stated above, money on the Derby contenders among the Preakness starters is a good bet.

  8. I have to defend my Gayego, he was 17th but ran into extreme traffic, sandwiched hard by Big Brown and another horse and pulled HARD.  He will run a much better race this time HOWEVER Big Brown isn't getting beat this race unless he has a disastrous break.  So big brown, i'm a big underdog guy but I can't bet against big brown (mainly because I have following him since maiden) Have youtube comments to prove it :)
