  1. I can't find a 66-1 winner of any of the major sprint races (July Cup, King's Stand, Nunthorpe and Haydock Sprint Cup) but did find the following:

    2003 - Choisir won King's Stand @ 25/1

2002 - Invincicble Spirit won Haydock Sprint Cup @ 25/1

    1997 - Compton Place won July Cup @ 50/1

    1997 - Don't Worry Me won King's Stand @ 33-1

    1993 - Hamas won July Cup @ 33-1

It depends which sprint race you are refering to.  I consider a Group race to be a "big" race, but others would consider handicaps too.  Give us a clue and I'll see what I can come up with!

Eddie D - you are thinking of SUMMONER who won the QEII at Ascot in 2001.  He was pacemaker for Noverre but came home in front at a very nice 33/1.  He was a lovely horse and they tried to send him off to stud, but he wasn't interested so they gelded him and put him back in training.  I think he is in Dubai now.  A friend of mine looked after him when he was being prepped to go back into training at Darley.

  2. there was a winner of a mile race at Goodwood or Ascot at 66-1 ridden by Richard Hills at end of nineties owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum but cannot remember it at present.  I remember it was supposed to be a pacemaker but made the pace too hot. Hittite Glory won 2yo Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster at 100-1 ridden by A Breasley but that may have been in 70's. Further details please on what you are looking for.

Summoner at 33-1 was 29 Sep 2001 and is not the one I am thinking of.

    Got it!  QE11 24 Sep 1994 Maroof 66-1
