  1. Contact the Environmaental Health department of your council, who should be able to advise. Also check the website of the council under the planning section for that address. Many councils give conditional consents which can restrict hours of working specifically.

That said a quiet word with your neighbour might be the best policy.

  2. Good grief. Would you rather see the project only partly finished? I take it you would likely complain about that too.

That being said~~~check with the laws in your state, county, etc. Where I live, no one would complain about that, it just doesn't happen. 9 pm would be nothing. As long as there's daylight to work by, people keep going.

The best advice I could give would be just to suck it up for now and let them get the work done now so you don't have to deal with it for longer.

  3. I don't think so but just tell your neighbour straight that you are not happy and maybe your problem can be resolved!!!

Good Luck!!!! Your going to need it!!!

  4. The up side is---the longer they work each day,the quicker they will be finished and gone.Always look at the positive aspect.

  5. People have to have work done. Try putting yourself in their position and how would you feel about complaints. It won't be for ever, so live happily side by side.

  6. it really depends on the local councils guidelines as every council has different policies generally they cannot work till 9pm at night and they cannot work at all on sundays Im sure the times are 8am till 6pm but thats in edinburgh scotland wouldnt think it could be that much diff anywhere else, you can also call the health and safety executive and if poss if you can get the builders company name pass it onto them not only will they throw them offsite shud they be working the illegal hours they will also check to see that the workers are all fully qualified and if its a team of workers they will be asked to produce their tickets all worth mentioning to them if they keep up the noise at night hehe works everytime! hope this helps Gilly x

  7. No 6pm is the latest they can work by law, complain to your local council if they do not stop, your neighbour could face a fine of two thousand pounds if their workmen contnue

  8. Yes, any reasonable noise before 11pm and after 6am, have a word with your neighbour politely and ask is there any need to have the work go on so late.

  9. Sorry to say, but yes.

  10. As far as I am aware there is no specific law to prevent this. You could ask your neighbour if it is going to take a long time, and if yes ask if they could finish a little earlier, or do the noisy work earlier.
