For those of you ladies who have had both of these experiences give me some insight please..I'm currently pregnant with my 2nd baby..My first was delivered by cesarian..However my doctor said this time I might not need to do a Cesarian..I'm very scared because I know that I can deal with a cesarian, but I don't know how bad vaginal labor is..Which is worse...I appreciate all you who answer my question..

  1. When you deliver via Cesarian you are given a local, and under certain circumstances general anesthesia. You feel nothing. The same cannot be said for vaginal birth, even with an epidural in place.

  2. What does it matter? You will forget any pain as soon as you hold your baby. Vaginal deliveries heal faster.

  3. i ha a C and it healed QUICK with LITTLE pain and not even a bad scar :) I loved it..but i am trying vaginal this time bc i want to xperience that :)

  4. I've never had a C section - all 3 were vaginal -

I would compare having a vaginal delivery to pushing a watermelon out of your ****........I'm not kidding.......even with an epidural - you FEEL something...........there's pressure and pain - like taking the biggest c**p of your LIFE

    BUT!!!!

As soon as the baby is out - you seriously forget all about it - *unless you tear* but come on - you can't expect to deliver a baby without any discomfort..........it's life!

  5. If I could have a vaginal birth it would be great! But I can't because my pelvic bone is too small. A C- Section hurts like h*** afterwards!

  6. i can deal with vaginal birth...its anal birth that kills me....

  7. you know i delivered via c-section and that was easy but when it came time for me to get out the bed it was very painful c-section it does take some weeks to fully heal but i have never had a vaginal birth so don't know what to expect i am looking to have baby number 2 one day and i want to do it vaginal with no pain meds so i wish you all the best

  8. I've had neither, considering I've never birthed a child, but honestly, vaginal sounds like THE most painful thing I could ever think of, ever.

  9. Every labor is different and I had my daughter by vaginal. It hurt but then it healed tons quicker than my sister who had a cesarian 2 months later.

  10. vaginal

  11. I can't say from both sides, but i imagine that recovering from a major abdominal surgery involving slicing through both muscle and organ walls is much worse than recovering from a vaginal birth.  I had my first baby at home with a midwife, husband and no pain medication.  I wouldn't even describe it as painful - Just hard work.  Nothing was more uncomfortable than my worst menstrual cramps.

If you have the opportunity, give VBAC a try - Why not, right?

  12. Vaginal labor does hurt worse in the short-term; but with a Caesarian, you are sore longer because it has to heal.  It's a question of what you think you can handle---if you KNOW you can deal with a Caesarian, I would go that route for sure.

  13. If you have the opportunity to have a vaginal birth, do it. It is very rewarding and the recovery time is a lot less. It is the way nature intended you to give birth (although I understand C-sections for complications). Vaginal birthing with no drugs is more painful than a c-section, but like I said, the healing of major surgery is much worse than the natural healing of a vaginal birth.

edit- I agree with Awaiting Scarlette. I'm having an attended home birth in September with no pain meds whatsoever. I'm very excited for this.

  14. i had my son vaginal, i am scared to death to have a cesarian if i don't have to with my second one, i am not going to... also my sister -in- law had a c-section, she said it wasn't the easy way out... recovery was longer
