What i sthe difference b/w preservation and conservation???

  1. When I think of preservation, I think of keeping something the way that it is. You're not using it, you are simply leaving it undisturbed as in a nature preserve. You are able to go and look at the nature but you aren't bothering it. With conservation, you are using something but you are careful to use it wisely. I think of this when I think of natural resources. We use these things but we are careful to conserve there use so that it lasts.


  2. When looking up their definitions online I discovered the synonyms for conservation were: care, husbandry, protection.

    On the other hand, the synonyms for preservation  included conservation, which makes me assume that preservation is a 'larger' word than conservation and embraces it.

    A jam (US jelly) is both a conserve and a preserve - thus showing the overlap.

    Conservation involves the careful mangement of resources, while preservation does that and more, - keeping the status quo as much as is possible.
