and not to non believers(including psychiatrists)?

What do you think would happen to us? We wouldn't be able to contain ourselves & would probably be so excited & running around telling everybody. What do you think the skeptics & psychiatrists would do ?

  1. Why do you assume that all psychiatrist are non believers? That just seems unfair to me since many psychiatrist actively explore and research in the area of parapsychology and other exceptional human experiences.

Well the psychiatrist that believe nothing that can't be touched and measured exist (this is the basis of the medical model) would immediately write a prescription to end the hallucinations. Most psychiatrist (which are medical doctors) have very limited training in psychology and only know how to diagnose and then treat with medication.

However, unless you are a threat to yourself or others then no one can lock you up.

The skeptics would do exactly what they do and say now - like say you should ask your doctor about medication for that and are attempt to diagnose you with a mental condition.

For my part I would ask what happens when the purple unicorns attack and try to understand what the person was seeing and experiencing. I don't shove the cat and dog off to the vet when they seem to stare and growl at what I see as nothing why should it be done to human beings.

By the way I firmly believe if a skeptic saw the purple unicorn they would simply deny it and if they were remotely honest they would seek meds to stop seeing it and then say that proves it was a hallucination without examining the effects of the medication on possible perceptions.

  2. No disrespect intended, but I thought that was the case now. I don't think anything at all would change.

  3. I think that we would become a closer knit community. We would know that they don't see and would not bother to tell them, we would understand that every one has their own evolving to do.

  4. No matter how many people say they see the same thing, the

non-believers will still say your nuts, you should see a doctor for that, etc. I feel sorry for them because of their closed minds.

I don't want to see everything I believe in, some of it is quite frightening.  I believe in angels and demons, you can't have good without bad.  I also believe in God and the devil, good and evil.  And let us not forget ghosts, them I can see.

  5. that would be sad.. the non believers woudn't believe us..i think when they start noticing that several ppl are seeing these stuff.. they may soon start to believe.. and i love this phrase

seeing is no believeing... believing is seeing..

  6. Well, honestly, they'd probably lock all the 'believers' up.

But, it depends on how you define 'everything' and 'believers'.  if you are suggesting that everything we believed, but couldn't see, became visible, then *everyone* would be running around, excited, yelling "I told you so!" to no one in particular.

if you imply that "believers" are those who belong to an organised religion (e.g. Christianity) then are you suggesting that to see what you believe (e.g. Holy Spirit) proves that your religion is right/the only true religion?  And in this sense, that only one set of beliefs can possibly be true?

And in any case, how different would the world be if 'believers' could see 'everything'?  If 'non-believers' could not see, it wouldn't prove anything as those things would not exist to them as they have no spiritual belief AND no physical proof.

I think I've answered the question.

  7. We'd probably think you were nuts.  And really, would you be able to blame us?  :)

What would YOU think if someone ran up to you in the streets and told you that purple unicorns were attacking?  You'd probably say you couldn't see any.  They'd reply, 'that's because you don't believe in them!'  And you'd say, yeah, I don't believe in them because I don't see them.'  Right?  That's how skepticism works.

  8. I dont think I could handle seeing all things. I think its a gift we do not see that way. It would simply be toomuch stimulation 4 us. I would never get anything done!

  9. you can only see what you only believe, is a term from one of the wrinkle in time books, and im sry but if ppl saw half the ghosts and **** that wander my town there would be no town, ppl hate what they cant explain more than what they cant see
