I live in Illinois. I have a permit and I could pass for 18 or older.

Trust me, so what happens if I get caught. I read that they just dont let u get your license until your 18.

And I don't see the problem with that because I'm not getting it any sooner, so....

  1. it doesn't matter what you can pass for, your date of birth is on your permit. in california if you get caught solo with only a permit no license until you are 21

  2. Its the same as driving without a license. Here in NC they suspend your driving privileges for a year if you get caught and convicted doing that.

  3. If you do get caught, your insurance rate will go waaay up.

  4. Higher insurance rates, fines, longer to get  you license.

  5. My information (which could be wrong) is that you might not be able to get a license till you are 21.

Even then you may not even find insurance, let alone afford it.

  6. Age has nothing to do with it. If you only have a permit you have to have a licensed driver with you in the front seat. If you should happen to get stopped by the police and you can only produce a permit you WILL get a ticket to appear in court for driver with out a drivers license. You will get fined and possibly get a drivers license suspension and you won't be able to get your drivers license till the suspension is up. When you get your license suspended in Ohio to get it back you have to pay a reinstatement fee which some times is quit expensive. IL may not have that. Call your local police they can give you the best answer to this question.
