  1. During our 2006 cruise, two young men were detained by the authorities in Cozumel.  This issue delayed our departure by 2 hours.  The Captain left our ship and went ashore.  He returned with the two young men and they were confined to their cabins for the remainder of our trip.  The were escorted off the ship by the authorities when we returned to our US port.

During our 2007 cruise, a 14-year old got caught with drugs in Jamacia.  He and his mother got to stay behing in Jamacia when we departed.

My dear sweet husband was threatened with house arrest during our 1989 cruise.  It seems the cruise line frowns upon guests trying to get into the lifeboats when there is not an emergency.

  2. you are pretty much invinceable on a cruise ship. me and my  friends wreaked so much havoc on a cruise this past fall and didnt get in trouble. we through towel animals off the inside balconies from 9 stories up, we attempted to smuggle alcohol on the ship as we are underage, and just misbehaved the whole time.  as long as you dont kill anyone, im sure you wont get arrested!

  3. You may not get arrested, but if you cause too much trouble, the captain can at his descretion confine you to your stateroom.  He can even put you off the ship at a foreign port, and not let you reboard.  You are in international waters, and the captain is the de facto law enforcement officer on the ship.

This is paragraph 5b of Carnival's contract

    (b) Carnival and the Master each reserves the right to refuse passage, disembark or confine to a stateroom any Guest whose physical or mental condition, or behavior would be considered in the sole opinion of the Captain and/or the ship’s physician to constitute a risk to the Guest’s own well-being or that of any other Guest or crew member. Guest agrees not to book a cruise or board the ship if she will enter her third trimester (twenty-seventh week) of pregnancy by the time of the voyage, nor for or with infants less than four months old. Carnival and the Master reserve the right to disembark any guest whose behavior affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or well being of other guests or of any crew.

    And this is paragraph 8

    8.  COMPLIANCE WITH RULES, SOLICITATION, SMOKING, DRINKING, ILLEGAL ACTIVITY

    (a) Guest agrees during the course of the voyage to follow the directions of the ship’s Master, or his authorized officer. Guest further agrees not to solicit anyone on the vessel for any commercial or professional purposes. Guest agrees that any violation of this Clause may subject guest to disembarkation.

  4. Good question, probably WELL I DONT KNOW jAiL!?!?!?!?!

  5. You can have the time of your life on a cruise without doing something illegal.  If you can't resist the urge to do something stupid, then be prepared for the consequences.  Arrest, confinement, or worse, left in a foreign jail.

  6. well to solve that problem you could not be such an as.s.

  7. This caught my attention...what are things are you planning to do that aren't legal??

As long as you behave you won't be arrested!

  8. On at least two of our cruises, we just happened to walk by a stateroom and smell the wonderful aroma...you guessed it...marijuana. A little later we found out what happened.  Our pothead fellow cruisers spent the last 5 days of their vacation in a detention cell(most ships have them) and when we got back to port they were turned over to the port authority police. It always seems to happen right after we leave Jamaica!!! Don't let anyone fool you...YOU CAN BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR DRUG AND CUSTOMS VIOLATIONS. All ships have their own security departments. And yes, they do put up with a lot of stuff because they would like you to spend their money with them again. But there are definitely limits to what is tolerated. If you are planning to break the law on a cruise...well..DON'T. There are other people on the ship who just want a nice vacation. As for the ports, if you get into trouble just remember YOU ARE IN THEIR COUNTRY. They don't have to even turn you over to US authorities if they don't want to. Hope you have a nice cruise!!!
