Will I get any special promotions or anything just for being in AFJROTC because I already know the basics, like how to march, reporting statement, chain-of-command, and basics of how the military works?

  1. If you complete the JROTC program,

    Either 3 or 4 years,

And recieve a certificate of completion,

You can enlist as an E-3.

Of course the E-3 starts after basic.

    There are no other benefits.

The Air Force has no E-2 enlistments from JROTC.

  2. JROTC can get you bumped to E2 upon enlistment.  For the very reasons you suggest.

  3. JROTC will put you ahead of the curve, but a smart recruit could easily out pace you.  You most likely will be looked on/at to take a unit leadership role, Squad Leader or some such.  This realy only means you are now resposable for not only for yourself, but for your squad.

  4. Yes. Staying in it 4 years will bump you at least two pay grades.

If you want to be an officer, you must take AFROTC in college or go to an academy. Or take OTS after college.

  5. That depends on how long you stick around. 2 years of JROTC and you can join as an E-2 (Airman) and with 3 or 4 years you come in as an E-3 (Airman First Class). Let me tell you something, I'm in marching band and JROTC, and just because you know the basics, you'll still probably learn something new, trust me.

  6. you will have an advanced pay grade i think E3 or E4 and recruit training should be smothers since you can march etc

  7. I heard ROTC kids are the first to get kicked out in Marine Boot Camp. They don't take to kindly to kids who actually want to be a marine. I'm sure the Air Force is different though.
