Could drive the #48 car?? or any other top car for a good team

do you think he could win races and be more of a competitor?

Now, let me think for a minute...I believe JPM has a cup win already. That is also one more cup win than any of us here....but I digress (gotta love Alan Bestwick!)

He was able to win F1 races in lesser equipment. He has won in the Cup series with lesser equipment. So now if you take a better driver than Jimmie Johnson and put him in the same car as JJ, yes JPM would be a Cup champion.

Personally I hope JPM hangs at CGRwFS for one more season then jumps to Stewart's team as a 3rd car.

Yes. And if Jimmie had to drive Ganassi's car he probably wouldn't have 2 championships either.

Maybe....but I don't think the bigger teams want to take a chance on him because of his temper/attitude and thus having to deal with sponsors....Ganassi knew him from before and thus knew how to deal with him....he's still only a 2nd year driver and needs to remember that.

Yes I definitely think so. He is a very talented driver. I heard during the broadcast and I cant remember which driver said it about JPM but they said if he is running 40th in the race he is the hardest 40th place driver to pass or get around, he makes his car very wide and never gives up.

As far as driving the #48, Juan is NOT a corporate puppet. J/K LOL, I had to get that in there. Its just a joke.

WOW, im am very surprised the answers went how they have so far, but yes, he could be very good in a good ride, i dont think theyre are any truly good teams that will have good openings, lets face it the 5 car doesnt have it no matter who is in it, maybe they will be good next year with martin we will see, and there arent any other truly fully strong teams, gibbs only has one really strong guy each week and year, and roush is mediocre, id love to see juan run good too, im a huge fan of his.

I think he's learned NASCAR pretty well.  Yes, I think he could do better in a better ride.  I don't know about the 48, though, after last week!

I'm going to disagree to some point. I think he could be a force to be reckoned with on a better team. He does the best he can now, with what he has. But, since the 48 belongs to the Hendrick stable, I don't think he would fit there. He has the same kind of drive and personality that Kyle Busch has, and Busch did not fit in the HMS stable either. I personally would like to see Montoya go to Gibbs. Unfortunately, they are about to be full up there come tomorrow with the addition of Logano.

Definitely, he has no chance at Ganassi...he could be a force with good equipment and Team, hope he gets the chance when his contract is up!

Without a doubt, he needs to quit monkeying around at Ganassi, and find a real ride.  Heck even an MWR ride would be better!!!

I think he would win. He is in sub par cars with Ganassi. The sport has passed that team by. I would have loved to see Juan get put in the #33. I think he would do great for an owner that can supply decent equipment.

what if montoya could drive the 48? i think he could do it. will rick hendrick or chad knaus let him, i doubt it. but i'd bet dollars to the donuts he'd be doing that he would do much better in decent equipment with decent people around him. just look at what happened during the whole crew chief debacle - the last one he had that chip fired he was just starting to gel with, or so he said. and that was jimmy elledge, who has since been picked up by the #84. and aj allmendinger credits elledge as one of the main reasons that team has really picked up since they hired him.

The boy can drive anything.  He just needs to keep his mouth shut at times.  would that not be the funniest if he drove for Haas (Tony) next year?
