IF this actually happened...

1) Would the Penguins have gone to the Stanley Cup this year?

2) How much better/worse would the Penguins be?

3) What trades/signings/coach switches would not have been made?

4) How well would Malkin and Ovechkin work together?

5) Who would have been Rookie of the Year that year?

Yes, I am very aware nobody here is a fortune teller. But you guys are smart, use your best judgement

  1. the pens would have won the cup and ovetchkin would double his points (not really but u no what i mean )

  2. I think Malkin and Ovechkin would've worked well together. They DID play on a team many times before yeeeeeears ago.

I'm not sure about anything else though. But i was thinking about this question a few nights ago.. haha

  3. If anything it may get Malkin to play the way he can. Look how he played when Crosby was out and he wasn't relying on him. Well maybe if it was Alex there instead then Malkin would have played like that all along. The two teams were so similar that I think Alex would have still won the rookie of the year, remember Malkin joined the team the next year. Not really sure how the two would be together, but don't see where they should have any problems.

  4. 1) no they would have not gone to the stanley cup

    2) a little worse

    3) hossa to pittsburgh

    4) think they would mesh well

    5) crosby.

  5. i would shoot mself

  6. The difference between the penguins and the capitals is, the penguins were a lot quicker developing around their young stars. The capitals have a good team. Malkin and Ovechkin are both scorers. Crosby is a playmaker. Malkin and crosby never got the chemistry. It's hard to think about what would happen.

  7. blasphemy!

  8. Crosby is the best player in the NHL.  Ovechkin gets the attention because he shoots more than any other player in the NHL.  Being from Pittsburgh, I can tell you that no one would ever want to make that trade.

  9. 1. The Pens wouldve won the stanley cup

    2. 2x better

    3. Fedorav will still be on the Blue jackets.

    4. Epic

    5. Towes

  10. Considering the Penguins got cheated out of the top pick in 2004, a better question would be what if Ovechkin was on the Penguins and Malkin was on the Capitals. But anyways... if Ovechkin and Crosby switched places?

    1) Yes. It's funny how a lot of Pittsburgh fans now complain about Malkin's performance during the final series with the Wings, some going so far as to say the Pens should trade Malkin. Did they forget how well he performed during the first three series? How about when Crosby got injured during the regular season? I think with Malkin, the Pens would have gone to the Stanley Cup regardless of whether Crosby OR Ovechkin was on their team.

    2) Two different players, so it's hard to say. Crosby gets compared to Gretzky, but I think Ovechkin is more like The Great One. Crosby is more like... well, Lemieux (hard to believe, right?). To avoid sounding too arrogant (if it's not too late for that), I'll just say no better, no worse.

    3) None. Okay, maybe some. I just don't feel like speculating about that right now.

    4) Again, it's hard to say. Despite some fans claiming there is little chemistry between Malkin and Crosby, at least relative to their abilities, they work quite well together. Unfortuntely we usually only see it on the power play. Malkin and Ovechkin would likely be on the same line, and considering they were once young teammates in Russia, I can only assume it would be a good pairing. Just make sure their egos don't get the best of them.

    5) Whichever let their ego get the best of them.

  11. 1. yes. they still would have went.

    2. the penguins would be a lot better

    3. i dont think the hossa trade would have happen, they would have tried to get campbell for better defence instead or offence

    4. depends on how well their chemistry is together. wont know till you see them play together

    5. ovechkin

my 6. crosby would be a nobody

  12. 1) I don't think so because Crosby was set up man for everyone and Ovechkin doesn't pass, so he would be on his own.

    2) The penguins would be worse because neither Malkin or Ovechkin pass

    3) none

    4) Terrible they're both scorers, one has to be a set up man (like Crosby)

    5) Toews
