  1. i don't think pacquiao would do well at 147 pounds, especially considering he started his pro career at flyweight.

i wrongly assumed a move to 135 was a risk, but a move to welter would be a major mistake.....going in against guys who could fight at middleweight.

  2. it would be nice

  3. Pacquiao looks great as a natural lightweight.

I can't say the same for welterweight, as he will be much smaller than most of his opponents would be in that division.

Pacquiao is an all-out fighter with speed and power, however he is more of a fighter than a boxer.  Because of his size, it would be wiser to box in the welterweight division rather than fight.

I think Hatton is the biggest and toughest guy that Manny would do good against, but that would take place in the light-welterweight division.

To move up to welterweight and fight Oscar (as has been discussed), is a brave thing to do, even with De La Hoya fading.

  4. It would be a big jump to welterweight, these guys are significantly bigger than him. He is a great boxer so I think he would be OK. I would love to see a Margarito vs Pacquiao that would be an all out battle. Pacquiao has great movement and speed and Margarito can block punches with his face all day. If Pacquiao can avoid the power punches I think he would out box him and win the fight in a decision. I don't think he has enough power to knock out Margarito. Or even give a try at Paul Williams.

  5. Dont get me wrong Pacquiao is a great fighter but if he went to welterweight RIGHT now he would get really hurt but if he works his way up lets say in a 3-4 year he might do good but he would be to old to be consider a real contender. I can see him at lightweight, super lightweight and even jr welterweight but he has to work his way up and have hand pick fighters to win

  6. There would be more money that he could get but the competition would get more stiffer. For a featherweight and lightweight, he has tons of power. For a welterweight, he doesn't have enough power.

  7. If Pacquiao moved up to welter weight you would see Floyd Mayweather come out of retirement so fast it would make your head spin Pacquiao would get his head tore off inside of 6 rounds he is to small

  8. He just moved up to LIGHTWEIGHT. LOL. Let's see how he does against the top lightweights in the division. Considering he was lucky to beat Juan Manuel Marquez twice (at 122 and 130. He LOST the fight at 130 IMO), maybe he shouldn't look to bite off more than he can chew.

  9. COMATOSED PACMAN

  10. As a Pacquiao fan, this would be a mistake. These welterweights are big and strong. Manny's power would do nothing to them and eventually beat him down. I cringe at the thought of Manny facng Cotto, Margarito, Williams, or Mosely Pacquiao is good, but not that good.

  11. If Manny Pacquiao moves up to welterweight, then you can highly expect for him to lose. Pacquiao started his career as a junior flyweight, the second smallest division in the sport. Welterweight division is almost 40 pounds above where Pacquiao started.

Most of these welterweights have been at the division for years and know how to take punishment from other welterweights or even junior middleweights. Pacquiao has yet to take anything significant from a natural lightweight fighter, which leave me wondering how he would react if that moment should happen. So imagine what welterweights would do. Just look at the names at welterweight; Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya, Antonio Margarito, Zab Judah, Joshua Clottey, Andre Berto, Paul Williams, Shane Mosley, and Kermit Cintron. All of those names could seriously hurt Pacquiao pretty bad. Even Carlos Quintana, who I didn't mention earlier could possibly outbox Pacquiao and his punches could possibly stun the little guy. Also, Pacquiao's punches more than likely won't phase natural welterweights as it would lightweights.

Welterweight is a bad idea for Pacquiao and this is coming from someone who really like Pacman.
